4 Mistakes to Avoid When Building a Home

Building a home is a big deal, but there are certain things you need to know and prepare for.

  • Not Having a Realistic Budget in Mind

    • It is very important to set a realistic budget for your new home. Things can and will quickly become expensive if you don’t start out with a solid and realistic budget in place. It’s important to consider all expenses, from permits to finishes, and plan accordingly.

  • Skipping the Planning Phase

    • It’s important to take the time to plan out every detail of your new home, from the layout to the finishes. Rushing through this process can result in costly mistakes and regrets down the line. Make sure you take the time to fully account for any ideas, wants, and/or needs into your new build.

  • Neglecting Future Needs

    • It may not seem important now, but always consider future needs when building. Think about these things: Will your family be growing? Will you need more space for storage?

  • Choosing the Wrong Builder

    • Finding the right builder is SO important. Are you looking for a custom builder or semi-custom builder? Make sure to do your research and choose a company with a good reputation, experience, and proven track record in the area. I’m happy to recommend a few of my favorites!
